Probably the best version. I gave this a chance but it doesn't even touch the original Dire Straits version. Great voice and take on the song. But no one can beat the soothing sound of Knopfler's guitar. It seems to come straight from soul. Bons tempos.. I had no idea that Art Garfunkel had done a version of this! I knew about the everly bros version but not this one!

The take on how to interpret this song differs decidedly betwen Art and the Everly Brothers for example, yet both versions seem to capture the beauty and intent of the song I love both versions. The Everly Bros sang it whilst Knopfler played guitar. And Clive Knopfler had these artists in mind when he wrote it??? I doubt it!!!! Mark has a one octave vocal range You again Wonder how many versions there may be in other languages by now.

At least there's one in Dutch; it's called "Meisje" little girl , sung by Benny Neyman. One of the best You tube video's of this version is entitled: "meisje van benny ". Each time I listen to Art I start tearing up I can't describe what happens exactly, but it's just like he sings away all the bad things you think of and you can let them out I do imagine or get to feel the same of you.
